The Class of 2030 moves up to the high school

Eighth grade students from Ronkonkoma and Oakdale-Bohemia middle schools marked an important milestone during moving up ceremonies held June 22 and June 23, respectively.
Held at Connetquot High School, the ceremonies celebrated the students’ middle school accomplishments and looked ahead to their next chapter as high school students. The events included speeches and musical performances that highlighted the memories, friendships and experiences that defined their middle school years. Students were also recognized with special awards for their achievements in academics and other areas of distinction.
As the ceremonies came to a close, members of the Class of 2030 crossed the stage to receive their certificates, officially commemorating the completion of middle school and their transition to Connetquot High School this fall.
“As you step into the next phase of your lives, carry with you the knowledge, the experiences and friendships from middle school,” OBMS Principal Joe Piombo said. “Be brave, be curious and always strive for excellence. The world is waiting for you, and I have no doubt you all will do great things.”
“Remember, success is not only measured by achievement, but also by your character and how you impact all of those around you,” RMS Principal Joe Licato said. “There’s much for you to be proud of, and even more to look forward to. Continue to lead with kindness, work with purpose and support one another along the way.”
