Music in Our Schools Month brings renowned composer/arranger to Bosti

In celebration of Music in Our Schools Month, renowned composer and arranger Carl Strommen visited Ms. Brasch’s class at Edward J. Bosti Elementary, working with fourth, fifth and sixth grade band students from Oakdale-Bohemia Middle School. Strommen, who arranged “Star Wars (Main Theme)” by John Williams, gave students the unique opportunity to study and perform his version of the iconic piece.
During his visit, students asked questions about his career, including the famous film scores he has worked on, the places he has traveled and the instruments he plays. He also explained the process of arranging music, offering valuable insight into his craft. The session concluded with students rehearsing sections of the piece and performing it together under Strommen’s direction.
