Idle Hour students earn a silly string showdown with principal

Idle Hour Elementary students rose to the occasion for this year’s Makerspace Fair, thanks to a creative incentive from Principal Mrs. Rubin. The Makerspace Fair provides students with the opportunity to explore creativity and innovation through hands-on projects, often featuring elements of science, technology, engineering, art and math. As part of a “principal’s challenge,” Mrs. Rubin encouraged students to sign up for the March 18 event by promising a fun reward if participation increased.
The response was overwhelming. A total of 111 students registered for the Makerspace Fair, up from 75 participants last year, representing 48% of the school’s K-5 population. As their reward, all 111 students had the opportunity to spray their principal with silly string!
