Sycamore explores Aboriginal culture through “A Taste of Australia”

Third graders at Sycamore enjoyed a unique cultural experience with native Australian, Chris Pitkin. Following their classroom unit on Australia, students explored rich traditions, including Dreamtime, a central part of Aboriginal culture that shares creation stories, spiritual beliefs and lessons about life and the land.
During the session, students practiced dot painting on paper before applying their designs to boomerangs. They also learned about the didgeridoo, the world’s oldest wind instrument, and how it's played.
