OBMS National Junior Honor Society helps furry friends in need

The OBMS National Junior Honor Society worked diligently during the first week of December to collect donations for the nonprofit organization, Francesca’s Furry Friends. Students and staff donated dog and cat food, treats, toys, blankets, collars, leashes, and cleaning supplies to support animals in need.
Francesca Gallo was passionate about helping shelter animals during the holiday season. Although she tragically lost her battle with leukemia as a teenager, the meaningful tradition she began continues today through the efforts of the OBMS National Junior Honor Society and their advisor, Mrs. Senia.
Posters were displayed throughout the school to promote the fundraiser, and morning announcements helped spread awareness. This year, OBMS collected more than a dozen large bags and boxes filled with pet food, toys, treats, collars, leashes, and blankets. On December 7, all donations were delivered in Francesca’s honor to the Kent Animal Shelter in Calverton.
This year’s fundraiser proved to be a heartfelt way to honor Francesca’s memory and her dedication to helping animals in need.
