On Sept. 16, fourth grade classes at Cherokee Street Elementary celebrated International Dot Day, a global celebration of creativity, courage and collaboration.

Cherokee Street fourth graders first read, “The Dot” by Peter H. Reynolds before using their creativity to create their own dots. In “The Dot,” the main character believes she can’t draw. Her teacher then encourages her to “make a mark and see where it takes her,” and her creativity takes off. As part of the exercise, the students also thought about something they would like to be good at, why and how they can become better at it.
