Celebrating National French Week, high school French students were treated to a day of special events.

The day began with guest speaker, Connetquot alumni and former ENL student from France, Emmerick Monard. He is currently pursuing a master’s degree at Stony Brook University in French Education and TESOL.  Emmerick shared his experience moving to the U.S. and coming to Connetquot as a high school student with limited English. Students learned about his hometown near Normandy and the importance of French as a global language.  The students followed with a question-and-answer session in French with Emmerick.

Included in the festivities for the day was an activity recreating Monet’s “Water Lilies” paintings and a competitive game of Petit Bac, a game similar to Scattergories, created by the College and Advanced French students.

The day was “formidable pour les étudiants”! Thank you to Monsieur Monard and Madame Forman for organizing the event.  A special thank you to Madame Carr for sharing the library. Look for the interview with Monsieur Monard in an upcoming edition of Thundervision!
