Administrators, teachers and staff members returned to Connetquot Central School District on Aug. 31 for Superintendent’s Conference Day. Led by Superintendent of Schools Dr. Joseph Centamore, district faculty and staff took part in two days of fellowship, professional development, learning and preparation ahead of the district’s first day of school, Sept. 6.

Aug. 31 began with a breakfast to welcome back all Connetquot staff members. Both Dr. Centamore and the board of education served breakfast, while staffers had the chance to converse and connect over their meals.

Following the breakfast, Dr. Centamore delivered an enthusiastic welcome back message, stating, “In your efforts to serve our children and community, to do right by them, I stand both before you and more importantly, with you. This is more than just a kickoff to a new school year; this is a celebration. This also helps in our evolution from a staff to a team to a family.”

After his address, Director of Security Donald Flynn gave a presentation on safety and security. Then, Director of Student Services Joanne Pisani spoke to the attendees about crisis identification and awareness.

Following the presentations, attendees broke out for individual classroom preparation. Building principals and curriculum directors also led faculty, department and grade-level meetings, as needed, to prepare staff for the start of the school year.
