Mrs. Leone’s second grade class at Sycamore recently enjoyed a wonderful field trip to meet their pen pals from Wood Park Elementary School in Commack. This exciting partnership was made possible through the innovative use of Book Creator, where educational technology specialist Victoria Pappas designed a digital journal for each pen pal grouping to communicate together using text, images, audio and video. Students communicated about their schools, their hobbies and the weather, and participated in fun digital activities together such as word searches.

The connection began in October when students were paired up digitally. They met virtually in December, which set the stage for their highly anticipated in-person meeting at Wood Park.

During this memorable day, students shared snacks, participated in a goose chase partnership challenge using iPads and had a blast playing on the playground together.
