During the Dec. 13 Connetquot Board of Education meeting, students received honors for special accomplishments achieved during the summer and the current semester of the 2022-2023 school year.

Four eighth grade students were honored for making a perfect score when taking their first New York State Regents Exams, including them as members in the Superintendent’s 100 Club. Tessa Dolinger, Nadia Radi and Chase Reilly made a 100% on their Common Core Algebra 1 Regents Exams, while Declan Doran made a 100% on the Physical Setting/Earth Science Regents Exam.

Science Research students were also honored for provisionally discovering an asteroid that makes a marginally close approach in orbit to Earth, using the Pan-STARRS telescope located on Haleakala (Maui). The students will have to wait until a couple of orbits have been completed to confirm that it is actually a new object. The research students are Zohayr Adnan, Alex Biondi, James Domozych, Amelia Gobetz, Severino Roderick and Lacy Stich.

Several Connetquot High School students completed a summer internship program with local businesses as part of a school to work program. Director of Business and Social Studies Robert Cassagne said the program is a way for students to learn to be professionals and to find ways to succeed in the business world. Students honored included: Carrie Euceda-Luna, Megan McDougall and Amber Rogers-Wakefield who worked with supervisor Sandy Leon-Hoitsma of Leon Early Childcare Center; Kaylee Diaz who worked with supervisor Therese Panetta-Young of Panetta Physical Therapy, Isabella Kaspiev who worked with Edward Kotak Jr. of The Quintessential Experience; Ayaan Shaikh who worked with supervisor Madalyn Moeller of Clear Vision Optical; and Tyler Tripi who worked with Chris Coluccio of Techworks Consulting, Inc.

The Connetquot Central School District congratulates these students on their outstanding accomplishments.
