Art                                                                                                    
Welcome to the Ronkonkoma Middle School Art Club!  This club is open to all students, 6th, 7th and 8th grade.

Throughout the year, we will be experimenting with several different mediums, as well as exploring the world of art history.

Art club is a great opportunity to explore the many facets of art and to unleash your creativity from within.

Art club will meet the third Tuesday of every month.  There will be times when the club meets more often, so listen for announcements and postings for changes outside room 27.

Chamber Orchestra    
Expand the musical experience & repertoire of the orchestra student, allow gifted players to work at a higher level of proficiency & musicianship; Offer additional performance opportunities to string students. Open to students in grades 6, 7 and 8.

Chess & Games
Students learn to play the game of chess, games of chess & board games; Encourage social interaction. "If you like board games, this is the club for you". Open to students in grades 6, 7 and 8.

Computer Club
Students are given the opportunity to explore various computer activities on different computer platforms.  Time will be given for independent use of meeting topic. Open to students in grades 6, 7 and 8.

Foster individuality; Encourage creativity; Enable independence *Because we will be crafting, it is necessary that we have a count of how many students will be attending each meeting.  There will be a sign up sheet in room 1 the week prior to each upcoming meeting.

The 7th & 8th Grade Craft Club will be having its 1st meeting on Thursday September 29TH from 2:40-3:35 in room 25. If you’re interested in making some great crafts, please consider joining; all are welcome!!!!! ​

Drama
Teach students about theater; Create a production; Perform in a major musical. This selective group of students rehearses daily for months. Open to all students who demonstrate a high level of performance in singing, dancing & acting as well as a good work ethic, dedication and responsibility. Open to students in grades 6, 7 and 8.

Film
Expose students to new film releases; Talk about film history; Discuss film trivia. Open to students in grades 6, 7 and 8.

The Film Club will be having its 1st meeting on Tuesday September 27TH from 2:40-3:35 in room 25.
If you love movies this is the club for you!!!!​

Foreign Language
Give students an opportunity to have cultural experiences through film, games & activities, explore the knowledge they bring from their classes; Provide an introduction to other cultures.

Garden Club
Awaken students' connection with nature & whole foods. Provides an interactive/ interdisciplinary classroom.  Educates students about health & sustainability. Educates students about how to nurture & maintain a garden. Donate foods to local food pantries & RMS kitchen. Open to students in grades 6, 7 and 8.

MEMBERS Must:

  • Attend monthly meetings,more frequently in fall and spring.
  • Participate in several weekend community service projects.
  • Agree to harvest at least one day in the summer.
  • Agree to work in the garden.

Homework
Work on homework and/or reports, collaborate with each other, study for tests, ask an adult for assistance. Open to students in grades 6, 7 and 8.

Homework Club will be held in Room 16 with Mrs. Stern on Monday afternoons, 2:35-3:30. If there is no school on Monday, HW Club will meet on Tuesday. Students need to bring 1/2 hour of work to do.

Intramural Sports Gr. 6
Encourage maximum participation among sixth grade students; Provide an opportunity to participate in physical activities;Promote and encourage good sportsmanship.

Jazz Band
Allows students to learn the basics of jazz while encouraging a higher level of musicianship.   
This group is open to all grades and instruments by audition only.

Lego/Robotics
Inspire students to become technological leaders by engaging them in an exciting, mentor-based program.  Builds on the "STEM" subjects, inspiring innovation and fostering well-rounded life kills. Build a robot while developing teamwork and leadership skills and solving real-world problems. Open to students in grades 6, 7 and 8.

Literary Magazine                                             
Publish student writing & artwork; Inspire creativity; Give the students a voice in the school; Give the students a creative outlet. Open to students in grades 6, 7 and 8.

Millennium Generation
Group based project learning using various computer skills and student collaboration.  Project is selected at the beginning of the year and will require students to work closely with one another. Additional meetings are sometimes required based on the selected project. Open to students in grades 6, 7 and 8.

School Store
Teach students how to run a business; Teach students how to help with customer sales; Teach students how to handle money & give change; Provide students the opportunity to purchase basic school supplies.

The school store will be open on
Mondays, Wednesdays & Fridays during all lunch periods.
The store is located in the back of the Cafeteria.

are available.
