I would like to introduce the Health Office staff to any new families in the Idle Hour Community.
My name is Donna McEleney, RN and I have been a nurse for over 30 years. I have worked in hospitals and the community before calling Idle Hour my home in 2005.
Veronica Flanagan, Teacher Aide, came to the Health Office in 2018. She
has worked with the children of Idle Hour since 2008 as both a Lunch Aide
and Reading Assistant in the Reading Room.
We perform screening requirements as well as, administer medication as directed by the state. Of course, there’s the day to day care of boo-boos, illness and TLC as needed.
If you have any concerns about your child, please feel free to call us at (631) 244-2306, press 2, or fax any necessary documents to (631) 761-9826.
According to New York State Law, physical examinations are required of pupils entering school for the first time; of pupils entering Kindergarten and Grades 1, 3, 5, 7, 9 and 11; and of pupils transferring or re-entering the school district. Additionally, vision, hearing and scoliosis screenings are a part off the District's health services program. If your child requires a physical examination and/or screenings, you have two options.
You may have your child examined and screened by your family physician who knows the history and special needs of your child. If you choose this option, please have the physician complete a physical examination form which may be supplied by the school nurse. Completed physical forms should be returned to the school nurse at Idle Hour by the first day of school.
You may have your child examined by the school physician.
If a completed physical examination form is not received by October 5, 2018, your child will be scheduled for an examination by the school physician.
Please contact Donna McEleney, school nurse, if you have any questions.
