2027-2018

Dear Bosti Families and Friends,

As the new Principal of Edward J. Bosti Elementary School, I am both excited and honored to become a member of this great school community. The warm welcome that I have received is incredibly encouraging, and I am truly grateful for the kindness I have been shown. In my short time here, I have witnessed a shared purpose within the school which has also guided my own career in education. The sign outside the main entrance of the school reads, “Our School…Where children come first.” This aligns with my guiding belief, which has always been a relentless commitment to putting children at the center of my work in education. To me, education is not simply a job or career; it is a calling.

My professional journey began at P.S. 89Q in Elmhurst, Queens, where I served as a classroom teacher, instructional coach, and school administrator, dedicating my efforts to providing the highest level of instruction for all students. At P.S. 89Q, I learned that our purpose as educators is to address gaps in students' learning, provide the support and extensions they need, and motivate them to aspire to greatness. It was a pleasure to serve the district where I grew up, for nearly 30 years; however, as a resident of Suffolk County, I am thrilled with this new opportunity to serve the Connetquot School District, staff, students, families and community.

Although my professional accomplishments have brought me great joy and satisfaction, my greatest joy is my family. I am proud to say that they have also pursued careers in service. My husband is a former first responder with the FDNY/EMS, and he continues to work in emergency management. My son recently joined the U.S. Air Force, and my daughter is studying special education at NYU. I could not be more proud of them!

As a parent myself, I know how important it is for families to be involved in their children’s education. We are fortunate at Bosti to have families who are involved, along with an active PTA that plans exciting events for the students each year! I look forward to working together with everyone–families, staff and students–to make the 2017-18 school year a fun and successful one. Together, we can ensure that Bosti continues to be an amazing place to learn and grow!

Warm Regards,
Laura Kimball
