Dear Seniors,


Welcome to Marking Period 3 and the start of half year Spring Semester Courses.


The purpose of this message is to remind you that Tardiness to school will be monitored closely.  It is your responsibility to arrive to class on time.  Sadly, if you drive to school, traffic is not an excuse for lateness to class.


Please be aware that every 3 late arrivals to class, equals 1 absence.

Excelsior Scholarship ProgramClick link for information

Students from families earning $125,000 or less can attend a state-operated SUNY or CUNY college tuition-free.

  • Attend SUNY or CUNY tuition free! 
  • Adjusted combined federal household income of $125,000 or less
  • Pursuing an undergraduate degree at a SUNY or CUNY college or university
  • Enrolled in full-time study (at least 12 credits per term)
  • Complete at least 30 credits per year
  • Live and work in New York State for a duration equal to the number of years you received the scholarship

SENIOR PARKING APPLICATION/TAGS:

  • EFFECTIVE MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 16, 2024, APPLICATIONS FOR SENIOR PARKING TAGS WILL BE FACILITATED AT THE STUDENT PARKING LOT ENTRANCE DURING PERIODS 2 THROUGH PERIOD 4 ON A DAILY BASIS.

2024-2025 SENIORPARKING PERMIT APPLICATION

 

Dear Senior:

 

Parking on school grounds is a senior privilege. You must have a Connetquot High School Parking Tag issued by the school and displayed from your vehicle’s rearview mirror when parking in the student parking lot.  In order to receive your parking tag, you must read, complete and return this application to Security at the high school.

 

Only SENIORS with a New York State Class D driver’s license can apply for a parking tag.  Please note, a Class D License is issued only to people 18 years of age or older or to a person who is 17 years of age and has successfully completed an approved Driver Education course and received your certificate of completion.  By law, you cannot drive to school with a Junior License (Class DJ).  JUNIORS ARE NOT PERMITTED TO PARK ON SCHOOL GROUNDS.


You must download, print and complete the following SENIOR PARKING application document: (Bring completed forms to high school when you get your Senior Parking Permit)

Students will submit Senior Parking Applications and receive their Senior Parking Tags at from CHS Security on the following dates:

  

·       August 26, 2024 (Monday) from 9 AM to 12 PM.  Security will be at the back door.

·         August 29, 2023 (Thursday) from 9 AM to 2 PM.  Security will be at the CHS Main Entrance.

·         September 3, 2024 (Tuesday) from 9 AM to 2 PM.  Security will be at the CHS Main Entrance to accept Senior Parking Applications and issue parking tags.

 

Please note, once you receive your NYS Class D Driver's License, you can submit to Security your Senior Parking Application anytime during the school year.

 

Failure to secure a valid SENIOR PARKING TAG can result in loss of parking privileges.


SAFETY is the number one priority when operating a vehicle.  The following regulations will apply to all students operating motor vehicles on school grounds:

 

1.      Parking permit must hang from rearview mirror & be visible

2.      Park in the designated student parking lot only (back of High School)

3.      Park in designated spots only (do not make your own parking space)

4.      Obey the 10 MPH speed limit at all times on school property

5.      NO LOITERING in the parking areas

6.      Obey the directions of Security and School Personnel

7.      No student is allowed access to their vehicle during the school day unless permission is granted by a school administrator

8.      You must also drive in a safe and responsible manner on the neighboring streets

9.      You must follow the District/School Code of Conduct, arrive to school on time, avoid being absent and maintain good grades. Failure to do so can result in the loss of parking privileges.

10.  You must arrive to SCHOOL AND CLASS ON TIME.  Traffic is no excuse for lateness.

a.      Every 3 times late to class = 1 absence (Refer to CHS Attendance Procedures)

 

Violation of any of the above will result in loss of driving privileges.  Please note that parents will be notified of any student driving violation.  Students who fail to comply with the school’s practices and procedures will have their parking privileges revoked.

 

Remember, parking on school grounds is a privilege not a right!
