Connetquot High School proudly hosted its annual Model United Nations conference earlier this month. Student delegates from nine visiting schools joined for a day of rigorous debate and diplomatic collaboration. The event commenced with inspiring opening remarks from New York State Senator Alexis Weik, who emphasized the importance of global awareness, civic engagement and leadership among today’s youth.

Delegates engaged in thoughtful discussions on a wide range of global topics, including the refugee crisis in the Mediterranean, the French Revolution, ongoing instability in Haiti, American citizenship policies and the urgent matter of child labor and exploitation.

The conference not only encouraged students to think globally but also fostered a spirit of cooperation and leadership. Connetquot High School looks forward to continuing this tradition of empowering young minds to become the next generation of informed and compassionate global citizens.
