Art
Welcome to the Ronkonkoma Middle School Art Club! This club is open to all students in 6th, 7th and 8th grade.

Throughout the year we will be experimenting with several different mediums, as well as exploring the world of art history. Attendance is important and recommended for the continuity of our projects

We will meet monthly on Mondays right after school, and end at 3:25pm. You can catch the 3:30 bus home after our meetings.

Chamber Orchestra    
Expand the musical experience & repertoire of the orchestra student, allow gifted players to work at a higher level of proficiency & musicianship; Offer additional performance opportunities to string students. Open to students in grades 6, 7 and 8.

Chess Club
Students learn to play the game of chess; Encourage social interaction. "If you like chess, this is the club for you". Open to students in grades 6, 7 and 8.

Computer Club
Students are given the opportunity to explore various computer activities on different computer platforms.  Time will be given for independent use of meeting topic. Open to students in grades 6, 7 and 8.

Craft – Gr. 6
Welcome to the Ronkonkoma Middle School Craft Club! This club is open to 6th grade students only.

Throughout the year we will be creating and crafting different projects that will require many different materials. You will become familiar with the use of different tools.

I will have postings outside my room 137, as well as announcements in the morning and afternoon. I will also have reminders and cancellations streamed on Google Classroom.

The 7th & 8th Grade Craft Club will be having its 1st meeting on Thursday September 30TH till 3:30pm. If you’re interested in making some great crafts, please consider joining; all are welcome!!!!!

Drama
Teach students about theater; Create a production; Perform in a major musical. This selective group of students rehearses daily for months. Open to all students who demonstrate a high level of performance in singing, dancing & acting as well as a good work ethic, dedication and responsibility. Open to students in grades 6, 7 and 8.

Film
Expose students to new film releases; Talk about film history; Discuss film trivia. Open to students in grades 6, 7 and 8.

Film club meets once a month.

We are usually here  until about 4 or 4:30. . Film club is “first come, first served”, meaning …. the quicker you return your
permission slip, the better chance you have at securing your spot for the next meeting!

Garden Club
Awaken students' connection with nature & whole foods. Provides an interactive/ interdisciplinary classroom.  Educates students about health & sustainability. Educates students about how to nurture & maintain a garden. Donate foods to local food pantries & RMS kitchen. Open to students in grades 6, 7 and 8.

MEMBERS Must:

  • Attend monthly meetings, more frequently in fall and spring.
  • Participate in several weekend community service projects.
  • Agree to harvest at least one day in the summer.
  • Agree to work in the garden.

Gen Z - formerly known as Millennium Generation
Group based project learning using various computer skills and student collaboration.  Project is selected at the beginning of the year and will require students to work closely with one another. Additional meetings are sometimes required based on the selected project. Open to students in grades 6, 7 and 8.

Encourage maximum participation among sixth grade students; Provide an opportunity to participate in physical activities; Promote and encourage good sportsmanship.

Student Council
The Student Council sponsors activities for the student body that promote social interaction. The activities promote kindness and unity. The club runs fundraisers and uses funds to encourage positivity and improve the school environment.
