Mrs. Lyons' seventh grade Family and Consumer Sciences classes at Ronkonkoma Middle School recently held a battle of the bakers called Cake Wars! Students designed custom cakes, then worked cooperatively to bring their creative visions to life.

The rules for this year’s competition were clear but challenging: students could only use four icing colors, three toppings, two containers of icing and were limited to the same four piping tips. Each group had only two class periods to decorate. 

The cakes were judged by both students and faculty through a Google Form survey, where voters determined the Cake War champion. Judging criteria included appearance, accuracy and creativity.

Congratulations to the winning group of Haley Bell, Sofia Caligiuri, Addison FitzGibbon, Liana Padilla and Hailey Rosati on their “Mr. Clean” cake!
