June 20 Board meeting celebrates retirees, tenure recipients and student success

On June 20, Connetquot’s Board of Education and community recognized some of the district’s outstanding student-athletes. The girls varsity track team was honored for being the reigning Suffolk County Champions. Congratulations to individual County Champions Chloe Young, Lara Booth Alam, Ava Catania and Essence Wright.

On the boys varsity track team, Fernando Padilla, Jayden McCabe and Timothy Campbell were honored as State qualifiers.

Next, the Board recognized the following students who competed in Regional-level competitions and advanced to State-level competitions for SkillsUSA in a variety of vocational skill categories earlier this year: Alexa Hernandez (Senior Cosmetology), Emma Thom (Health Knowledge Bowl), Hannah Elramly (Crime Scene Investigation), Molly Murphy (Marine Technology) and Ava Cregg (Action Skills Teaching Competition).

Lastly, several staff and faculty members were awarded tenure at the June 20 meeting. The Board and community also recognized and congratulated the district’s retirees.
