Here are two technologies for your use:
Follett Destiny is our new library catalog.  Each library in the school district has their catalog accessible through the Internet.  You can find it on the Connetquot District website under Departments, then select Libraries, then click on the Destiny icon and then select Sycamore Elementary School.

Using Destiny, you can search the catalog for a book in the library.

The school district provides access to a subscription database which can be used to locate many wonderful resources for research.

The database is called the Virtual Reference Collection (VRC).  It contains online encyclopedias, atlases, newspapers, magazines, biographical resources, science, literature and author information.

The link is also found on the district website.  Select the tab Resources, then select Student Resources, and then select Eastern Suffolk BOCES Virtual Reference Collection.

The advantage to using the VRC is that you can be assured that you are accessing high quality information that is continually being updated by professionals.
