bdThe Director

Brad Drinkwater has been teaching music, including 7th through 12th grade mixed and treble voice choirs, for fifteen years. He presently directs the Concert Choir and Vocal Jazz ensemble, while also teaching Advanced Placement Music Theory and Music Theory 3, at Connetquot High School. The Concert Choir actively tours major metropolitan areas and universities throughout North America and, this year, will appear at the NYSSMA Winter Conference and the ACDA Eastern Division Conference. Additionally, Brad frequently serves as a sponsor teacher for skilled Music Education degree candidates from various music teacher preparation programs.

Brad received his bachelor’s degree in Music Education, with dual concentrations in voice and piano, from New York University and later earned a Master of Arts degree in Music and Music Education from Teachers College, Columbia University. At NYU, he studied with David Elliott, Francisco Nuñez and Deirdre O’Donohue and served as the Assistant Director and pianist for the NYU Children’s Choir.

Outside of school, Brad works for the Metropolitan Youth Orchestra of New York, formerly as a pianist, now as the director of the Suffolk Women’s Choir. This year, he will also conduct the Hamptons Music Educators Association High School Honor Choir. Additionally, he sings with the eVoco Voice Collective (evoco.vc). Most importantly, he shares his love of music with his wife, Lauren, and their two sons.

jnOur Pianist

James Nagle is a vocal music educator who has taught in the Connetquot Central School District for the past twelve years at both the elementary and secondary levels. He currently directs the Connetquot High School Treble Choir and the Long Island Voices Show Choir. He has also provided vocal direction and accompaniment for the school’s musical productions. In addition to teaching, James is an accomplished pianist having played at numerous NYSSMA festivals and performances throughout Long Island. He has accompanied several SCMEA All-County choirs and most recently has been the collaborative pianist for the NYSCAME All-County Women’s Choir for the past five years. He served as the President and Music Director of the Potsdam Pointercounts, an award-winning a cappella group. During that time, he developed his arranging style and love of performing contemporary a cappella music as the group successfully competed and toured throughout the East Coast. James attained a Master of Science degree in Music Education from the Aaron Copland School of Music at CUNY Queens in 2010, receiving the Lawrence Eisman Award in Music Education. Outside of music, he enjoys playing basketball, swimming, and going on neighborhood walks with his wife and two sons.
