RMS strives to ‘Be Smart, Be Kind’
The Ronkonkoma Middle School student council is continuing its initiative to encourage the student population to make smart decisions, show kindness and inspire others. Throughout the year, the school’s mantra will be “Be Smart, Be Kind, Be Ronkonkoma Middle School.” Students who are nominated and receive Shout-Outs, recognizing their outstanding efforts and displays of kindness, are invited to have their photo taken in the hallway display, “I Am the ‘I’ in Kind. “

‘Be Smart, Be Kind, Be Ronkonkoma Middle School’
The Ronkonkoma Middle School student council has started an initiative to encourage the student population to make smart decisions, show kindness and inspire others. Throughout the rest of the school year, the school’s mantra will be “Be Smart, Be Kind, Be Ronkonkoma Middle School.” This month, students each received a lime green string bag with the Be Smart, Be Kind, Be RMS slogan to kick off the initiative and to demonstrate commitment to the initiative. Additionally, students, faculty and staff can nominate and receive Shout Outs to recognize outstanding efforts and displays of kindness, which are read over the morning and afternoon announcements. Recipients of the Shout Outs receive a button to hang on their string bags and have their photo taken in the hallway’s display “I am the ‘I’ in Kind!” The photos will be hung in the school’s hallways and be posted to the website and on social media as a reminder of the awesome individuals at Ronkonkoma Middle School.
