Dear Parents and Students, Welcome back fourth and fifth grade students! You and your parent are invited to join Sycamore’s 1st Parent/Child Book Club. We will be meeting once a month on Tuesday evenings from 6:00 to about 7:20 in the school library. This is a great way to share the love of books and reading with your child! Each month we will read a different book and then will we come together to discuss it. Our first book will be Rules by Cynthia Lord. This is a realistic fiction book about a family whose son is autistic. In an effort to keep life on an even keel, his sister, Catherine creates rules for him. Also, we experience her other friendships she makes. This is a story about embracing differences and accepting people as they are. Our first meeting will be on Tuesday, September 29th as an introductory meeting: to introduce ourselves, to give out the books, and to discuss autism. The club will be limited to 15 students.
